P.E.I. RCMP seizes 15 grams of cocaine during traffic stop

The Prince Edward Island RCMP arrested two people and seized cocaine during a traffic stop as part of Canada Road Safety Week on Thursday.

Officers set up a checkpoint on Route 3 in Vernon River around 2 a.m., according to an RCMP news release. Police stopped a vehicle and saw open liquor and drug paraphernalia inside it.

The RCMP says the officers searched the vehicle and found 15 grams of cocaine along with a quantity of crack cocaine, scales and cash.

Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Kings County and a 34-year-old woman from Queens County for possession for the purposes of trafficking.

The investigation is ongoing.
