Man faces charges after ‘significant seizure’ of fentanyl in Mont Carmel: P.E.I. RCMP

A 29-year-old man is facing charges after police seized drugs and weapons from a residence in Mont Carmel, P.E.I., on Wednesday.

Officers seized 48.7 grams of fentanyl, a firearm, and additional weapons, according to a news release from the RCMP.

“Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid—up to dozens of times stronger than heroin or morphine—making even small quantities far more dangerous and a significant driver of overdose deaths compared to other illicit drugs,” said Kevin Lewis, commanding officer of the P.E.I. RCMP in the release. “It is commonly sold in 0.1-gram quantities, making this a significant seizure.”

Tyson Wall appeared in court Thursday and faces the following charges:

• possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
• possession of a firearm while prohibited
• possession of a prohibited weapon while prohibited
• unsafe storage of a firearm
• possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
• breach of a release order
• breach of probation

He was remanded into custody and is set to appear in Summerside provincial court Friday at 1 p.m.
