Halifax Water has confirmed an investigation is underway by an independent third party to gather facts about possible financial irregularities. In an email to CTV News, without being specific, a utility spokesperson said Halifax Water is committed to a “thorough and fair internal review and investigative process.” Senior communications and public affairs advisor Brittany Smith said to protect the integrity of that process, and ensure fairness, “we maintain strict confidentiality during these investigations and do not comment on specifics.” The utility wouldn’t comment on who is involved, what irregularities are being investigated and why police have not been included in the probe. Halifax Water is responsible for municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater for the Halifax region. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
