Nova Scotia Parks has lifted swimming advisories that kept many people away from Lawrencetown and Rainbow Haven beaches over the weekend. The organization warned swimmers to avoid Rainbow Haven in Cow Bay and Lawrencetown in East Lawrencetown on Friday due to elevated bacteria levels. Paul D’Eon with the Lifesaving Society of Nova Scotia told CTV News Atlantic the bacteria was enterococci, which can cause diarrhea and vomiting if swallowed. On Friday, the advisories were lifted after “satisfactory water retests,” according to Nova Scotia Parks. “We received sample results from tests done on Friday,” D’Eon said. “All samples were below the limit.” D’Eon said they run checks on 20 saltwater beaches about two or three times a summer.
