The arrest of a man wanted on an outstanding warrant led to the seizure of a replica firearm, ammunition and drugs in Nova Scotia’s Kings County, according to the RCMP. Kings District RCMP learned Joel Gibson, who was the subject of an active arrest warrant, was at a residence on Cleveland Road in Windermere, N.S., around 11 a.m. Monday. When officers arrived on scene, police say Gibson refused to leave the home. The RCMP enlisted the help of the Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, a drone operator and the General Investigation Section. “At approximately 2:15 p.m., Gibson exited the home and refused to comply with directions from officers. In the interest of public and police safety, officers deployed an extended range impact weapon and he was taken into custody without further incident,” reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP. Gibson appeared in Kentville provincial court on Tuesday to face charges associated with the warrant as well as the following new charges: He remains in custody. Two other people were arrested at the residence and later released. They are scheduled to appear in court to face charges related to offences against the administration of law and justice. While at the home, police say officers learned weapons were stored at another residence in North Kentville. The RCMP says officers executed a search warrant and seized a replica firearm, a quantity of cocaine, ammunition, and other weapons. One person was arrested at the North Kentville home and was later released. She will appear in court to face weapon-related and drug-related charges.
