The only home cook from the Maritimes has been eliminated from the latest season of “MasterChef Canada.” Raiza Daniel, a 43-year-old interior designer, grew up in a small village in Colombia and now lives in Halifax. In Tuesday night’s episode, Daniel cut herself with a knife during a pressure test. She was treated by a medic and was able to return, however the judges cancelled the challenge due to the possibility of food being contaminated. The second skills challenge then became a high-stakes double elimination. Daniel and Linxi Miktolli of Montreal both struggled with a technically tricky chicken roulade and were sent home. Daniel said she felt “extremely sad” that her injury set her back and her chicken was raw. “My dream of being MasterChef, it’s over, but just the fact that I made the top 10 is huge for me. I’m happy with this experience,” she said. Eight remaining home cooks remain in the competition. “MasterChef Canada” airs next Tuesday and Wednesday on CTV and streams next day on Crave.
