RCMP are investigating an arson in the Timberlea, N.S., area early Sunday morning which is believed to be connected to a previous arson in the community. Police say they responded alongside fire services to a report of a structure fire at a home in the 400 block of Marketway Lane at around 3:05 a.m. Upon arrival, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Police say there were no injuries reported in the fire. “In this morning’s incident, a dark-coloured SUV was seen leaving the property after the fire was set,” read a news release from RCMP Sunday. In the news release, police say they believe the incident is linked to another arson on Sept. 5, when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a home on the same block, and an attempted arson in the neighbourhood last Monday. RCMP also noted there has been other suspicious activity in the area as of late, including possible shots fired and a possible break and enter in August. Police add they have increased their presence in the area with both marked and unmarked vehicles patrolling the neighbourhood.
