Police are looking for information about a “vehicle of interest” as they continue to investigate a homicide and several fires in Upper Big Tracadie, N.S. Antigonish County District RCMP responded to a report of a house fire in the 0-1000 block of Highway 16 just before 8:30 p.m. on May 31. After the fire was extinguished, officers found a man’s body on the property. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service has ruled the man’s death a homicide. Police are now asking for the public’s help in obtaining additional information about a silver Hyundai Accent. They say the car was spotted speeding in and around the Tower Road area of Mulgrave, N.S., between 8:50 p.m. and 11 p.m. on May 31. “Investigators are particularly interested in obtaining descriptions of the Accent’s occupants and would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed it in the area,” said the RCMP in a news release Monday. Police previously located and seized a black 2014 Chevrolet Sonic with pink spray paint in connection with the investigation. Fires may be connected to homicide Police also continue to investigate the following fires, which they say are considered suspicious and may be connected to the homicide, between the evening of May 31 and the morning of June 1: Investigators execute warrants, seize evidence The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit, which is leading the investigation, says it has executed several search warrants since May 31. “Investigators from Forensic Identification Services have seized and examined evidence, much of which has been submitted to forensic labs for further testing,” said the RCMP. “Officers have done an extensive canvas for relevant video and are reviewing many hours of footage submitted by the public.” Police are asking anyone with video surveillance, dash-camera footage, or other information that could assist with the investigation to contact the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit at 902-365-3120.
