Police are investigating a case of arson and attempted arson after two incidents on the same street in Timberlea, N.S. The RCMP and emergency crews responded to a report that a Molotov cocktail had been thrown at a home in the 400 block of Marketway Lane around 2:20 a.m. Saturday “Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed in flames,” said police on Tuesday. “Neighbouring properties sustained minor damage.” No one was injured but the home was destroyed. Two days later, around 4:10 a.m. Monday, police were again called to the 400 block of Marketway Lane for a report of a suspicious person. “Investigators learned that a man had been seen exiting a residence with a cloth that was lit on fire,” said the RCMP. “The man dropped the cloth and fled the area in a vehicle.” Police say a jug containing an accelerant had been left in the yard and they are investigating the incident as an attempted arson. “Investigators have not yet established whether the two incidents are connected or whether the same individual is responsible,” the RCMP told CTV News Atlantic in an email. “While the incidents occurred in the same area, it has not been determined whether they were targeted or random. Investigators continue to examine all possibilities.” Police are looking for information about a small blue vehicle seen leaving the area on Saturday. They are also trying to identify a man who was seen in a grey Honda Civic on Monday. The man was wearing black pants and a brown jacket. “Investigators are particularly interested in obtaining doorbell camera or dashcam footage from the Marketway Ln. area between 1:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. on September 5 and September 7,” said the RCMP.
