Chris Smith will be Nova Scotia Power’s new president and CEO. Smith, who is the current executive vice president of finance and commercial, is set to take the top seat on Monday, and will be replacing Vivek Sood, who took the job as CEO earlier this year. In an announcement on Tuesday, the utility said Sood decided not to renew his contract and will work with Smith and the leadership team with Nova Scotia Power. In his time at Nova Scotia Power, Smith has served in several senior executive roles. Before that, he was the president of Heritage Gas, which is now known as Eastward Energy. “On behalf of the Board, I’d like to thank Vivek for his leadership during a pivotal year for Nova Scotia Power, and to welcome Chris as CEO,” said Scott Balfour, chair of the Nova Scotia Power Board of Directors, in the announcement. “Chris is a proven leader who deeply understands the business and the importance of maintaining focus on the priorities ahead. That includes supporting the new Nova Scotia Independent Energy System Operator through a complex transition in generation and system planning, while continuing Nova Scotia Power’s work to improve reliability and manage cost impacts for customers.” For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
