One hundred emergency service organizations in Nova Scotia are receiving grants from the province to help strengthen emergency response capacity. Organizations will receive up to $30,000 each, totaling more than $2.75 million, from the Emergency Services Provider Fund to purchase emergency response equipment such as: The money is available to fire departments, hazardous materials units and ground search and rescue crews. “Emergency service organizations are at the heart of community safety across Nova Scotia,” said Kim Masland, minister of Emergency Management, in a news release from the province. “This funding helps ensure they have the equipment and resources they need to respond to emergencies safely and effectively.” The government says the Emergency Services Provider Fund also offers regional funding for emergency response organizations and municipalities that work together to enhance regional preparedness, response and recovery efforts.
