N.S. offering cash reward for information about missing Truro man’s homicide

Nova Scotia is offering a cash reward for information in the case of a missing Truro man police believe was killed.

Police are now treating the suspicious disappearance of a 23-year-old Truro, N.S., man as a homicide and the province is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

The RCMP says Zachery Vaughan Kellock left his Truro home in a vehicle with two other people around 4 p.m. on Jan. 14, 2024. When he failed to return home two days later, his family reported him missing to the Truro Police Service.

The RCMP took over the case when police learned Kellock had last been seen at an address on Millbrook First Nation.

Investigators quickly determined his disappearance was suspicious. Last week they confirmed they are now treating the case as a homicide, though his body has not been found.

The Nova Scotia government said Monday it has added Kellock’s homicide to its Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in certain unsolved cases.

“Someone may have the missing piece that investigators need,” said Attorney General and Minister of Justice Becky Druhan in a news release.

“I urge anyone with details about what happened to Mr. Kellock to contact the rewards program and help bring justice and closure for his family, friends and loved ones.”

At the time of his disappearance, Kellock was described as five-foot-10 and 159 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark grey leather jacket.

The province says there are now 120 active cases in the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.
