A 59-year-old man has been charged with a hate crime after he allegedly displayed antisemitic signs on his vehicle in New Glasgow, N.S. New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a report of a truck with two large antisemitic signs on its tailgate parked in the lot of a grocery store on Westville Road on July 5. “The signs included derogatory language and an offensive caricature targeting individuals based on religion,” said police in a news release. The investigation led police to arrest Andrew Fraser of Pictou Landing, N.S. Fraser has been charged with wilful promotion of hatred. “Hate crimes do not just target individuals — they impact entire communities,” said New Glasgow police in a statement. “These crimes are taken seriously due to their ability to spread fear, division, and potential violence. “Reporting hate-motivated incidents is a critical step in stopping cycles of hatred and maintaining a safe, inclusive community for all.” Fraser was released on conditions. He was set to appear in Pictou provincial court on Tuesday. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
