There’s another Maritimer in the National Hockey League and he took the long road to get there. Forward Dillon Boucher, from Head of Chezzetcook, N.S., made his debut with the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. The team announced the day before that Boucher was recalled from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL). Boucher, 29, skated 60 games with the IceHogs and played his first three pro seasons with the Wichita Thunder in the ECHL. Back at home in the Maritimes, he played for Cape Breton and Charlottetown in the QMJHL and four seasons with Halifax’s Dalhousie University. “Never stopped grinding,” the NHL said in a social media post. “Welcome to the League, Dillon Boucher!” Before his official debut, Boucher scored a goal in the pre-season for the Blackhawks. He skated on the fourth line during Wednesday night’s game that saw Florida beat Chicago 5-3 to wrap up a three-game homestand. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
