Police in Vancouver say a man had his bike stolen and was stabbed on Commercial Drive late Wednesday night. The victim was with a friend near Napier Street around 11:20 p.m. when an unknown teenager grabbed his bike and rode away, according to a statement from the Vancouver Police Department. “The victim chased the suspect and attempted to recover the bike, at which point the suspect allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen,” the statement reads. Police say the man was hospitalized and his injuries were not life-threatening. Officers later found a suspect matching the description and in possession of the bike in the Strathcona neighbourhood, at Prior Street and Hawks Avenue, according to the department. The VPD alleges the suspect was not compliant and officers used a bean bag gun during the arrest. The 17-year-old now faces charges of robbery and assault with a weapon.
