Nova Scotia is spending more than $30 million to help residents pay their heating bills this winter. The heating assistance rebate program, which is available to families with a combined net income of $45,000 or single-person households with an income of $30,000, is opening for applications on Thursday. “Eligible Nova Scotians can receive $400 to help with their heating bills,” said Minister of Service Nova Scotia Jill Balser in a news release. “This year, our focus is to ensure that all those who may qualify apply.” Since 2021, the province has spent more than $340 million on the rebate program. Last year more than 54,000 households received a rebate. The deadline to apply for it is March 31. People can submit applications online or in person at Access Nova Scotia Centres or MLA offices.
