Nova Scotia-Maine ferry crossings cancelled due to rainy weather

Heavy rain and thundershowers are expected Wednesday and Thursday in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Ferry crossings between Nova Scotia and Maine have been cancelled Wednesday due to a round of wet weather.

The following sailings of The Cat have been cancelled:

• Departing Yarmouth, N.S., at 9:30 a.m.
• Departing Bar Harbor, Maine, at 3 p.m.

Bay Ferries says winds and sea conditions are “in excess of our limits for safe docking of the vessel and passenger comfort.”

The following sailings for Thursday also have an advisory in place:

• Departing at Yarmouth 9:30 a.m.
• Depart Bar Harbor 3 p.m.

“Customer susceptible to motion sickness should be prepared with appropriate medication to make the crossing more comfortable,” reads an online advisory.

Northumberland Ferries says high winds in the Northumberland Strait on Wednesday may result in delays or cancellations for the Prince Edward Island-Nova Scotia ferry.

There are currently no cancellations or advisories for the Newfoundland-Nova Scotia ferry, except restricted commercial sailings.
