Nova Scotia Health releases latest number of residents on the Need a Family Practice Registry

The number of Nova Scotians in need of a primary care provider continues to go down, according to the province’s health authority.

As of Nov. 1, Nova Scotia Health reported there are 69,420 residents on the Need a Family Practice Registry, a drop of 8,106 from when the numbers were last published on Oct 1.

“This number accounts for those newly added to the registry, those removed because they were attached to a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or those removed because they were found to no longer need a provider for a variety of reasons,” a release from the health authority reads.

The percentage of the population on the registry is 6.6 per cent. The next update to the registry will be in early December.
