A newlywed couple from Halifax is $1 million richer after winning the Gold Ball draw on Lotto 6/49 on Sept. 12. Trevor and Amber Mullins say the win will now allow them to plan the honeymoon of their dreams. “I thought, ‘Great, maybe we won a few thousand,’ and we were just planning our honeymoon,” said Trevor. “Then we figured out we had won the Gold Ball draw for $1 million and then Amber cried for four hours.” The couple struggled to process the win at first. Trevor says his wife couldn’t stop pacing, so the pair decided to go for a walk as they absorbed the news. “I was excited because my whole life just changed,” he said. “Every money problem I ever had went away.” The newlyweds had just finished paying off their wedding and begun to think about planning for retirement. “It couldn’t have come at a better time in my life,” said Trevor. Trevor says he’ll be buying his dream car – a yellow corvette. The couple also plans to pay off student loans for their children and start an education fund for his grandson. “All I want to do is make their lives a little bit easier and it’s a proud moment when you can do that for your kids,” he said. Trevor bought the winning ticket at the Inglis Street Circle K in Halifax. Atlantic Lottery says the retailer will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
