Man, woman charged with firearm offences in Halifax, police say

A man and a woman are facing several firearm charges after police searched a Halifax home on Thursday morning.

Officers executed a search warrant at an Adams Avenue residence in connection to a firearms investigation around 10 a.m. They arrested two people at the scene and seized a loaded firearm and ammunition, according to a news release from Halifax Regional Police.

Daniel Ryan, 33, appeared in court on Thursday to face charges of:

• unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• possess firearm – no licence/certificate
• possess loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
• store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
• possess weapon dangerous to public peace
• two counts of possess firearm contrary to order/fail to surrender
• breach of probation order

Nareea Cain, 29, is set to appear in court at a later date to face charges of:

• unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• possess firearm – no licence/certificate
• possess loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
• store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
• possess weapon dangerous to public peace
