Police say a man has been arrested for impaired driving after he drove on the wrong side of multiple roads in Lower Sackville, N.S., Friday night. Officers responded to a report of a Toyota Corolla with flat tires travelling on the wrong side of Sackville Drive around 7 p.m. The car entered a parking lot on Sackville Drive before leaving and driving north on Pinehill Drive. Officers patrolled the area but could not find the car. Police say they received another report about the same Toyota Corolla just after 7 p.m. Officers learned that debris from a vehicle had been found near the intersection of Sackville Drive and Pinehill Drive. About 20 minutes later, it was reported the car was nearby on Skyridge Avenue. It was allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road at “varying speeds.” Police say the vehicle had also hit a flatbed truck parked on the side of the road and was last seen travelling west on Sackville Drive from Skyridge Avenue. An officer later found the damaged Toyota in a parking lot in the 400 block of Sackville Drive. Police say the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. He was the only person in the vehicle. The man was taken to the Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment where he allegedly refused to give breath samples. The 24-year-old Lower Sackville man was held in custody. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date.
