Man arrested for allegedly stealing trading cards from Cole Harbour, N.S., store last month

Police are looking for a suspect after trading cards were stolen from a Cole Harbour, N.S., store.

The RCMP has arrested a Halifax-area man for allegedly stealing trading cards from a Cole Harbour, N.S., store last month.

Police responded to a store on the 900 block of Cole Harbour Road around 7 p.m. on Feb. 2. They learned a suspect smashed a display case, grabbed trading cards and threatened a staff member, according to an RCMP news release.

The man then got in a vehicle headed eastbound on Cole Harbour Road.

“On February 5, a Halifax Regional Police officer arrested a man on an unrelated matter and identified him as the individual involved in the Cole Harbour trading card robbery,” the release reads.

“He was wearing the same outerwear and had unopened boxes of trading cards in his possession, which were seized.”

Chad Alan Aubrey Moore, 38, was charged with robbery and mischief. He remains in custody ahead of his scheduled court appearance on April 14.

Police responded to a separate theft of trading cards from a store in the 900 block of Cole Harbour Road on Monday night.

They are still looking for the suspect, who is described as being 18-to-20 years old with a slim build.

Value of cards

Phil Anderson, a games store owner, said some Pokémon cards can be worth millions of dollars.

“The issue with Pokémon is that it’s very scarce right now,” Anderson said. “The demand is so high that the supply can’t keep up, so what that creates is a very robust, strong secondary market.”
