Police have lifted a lockdown at a Halifax high school after investigating an alleged threat on Thursday afternoon. Halifax West High School on Thomas Raddall Drive received the threat around 12:25 p.m. Police say the school received the threat over the phone that a man was on the property with a weapon. The school then went into lockdown. “Students and staff that were outside of the building at the time the threats were received have been directed away from the school to a safe gathering point,” reads a news release from Halifax Regional Police. Families were asked not to come to the school. Police say they searched the school and found no evidence to support the threat. The lockdown was lifted at 3:45 p.m. “Police thank staff, students and the community for their patience and cooperation during the search,” a separate news release reads. “While police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the school, officers will continue to have a presence there to offer reassurance to students, staff and families.” Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.
