An Alert Ready message has been issued in Nova Scotia, warning of possible 911 service interruptions in the province. There have been reports of intermittent 911 service outages across Canada, according to the message. “Some callers may experience difficulty reaching 9-1-1 during this time,” it reads. The alert recommends people use a landline, Wi‑Fi calling or another carrier if they can’t dial 911 on a cellphone. People can also contact: “For emergencies, seek immediate assistance from emergency personnel or the nearest police, fire, or medical facility if 9-1-1 is unavailable,” the alert adds. People are asked not to call 911 to test whether the system is working. Truro Police Service says people can contact their 24-hour dispatch centre directly at 902-895-5351. The cause of the outage is not yet known. The province says the issue appears to be related to telecommunications carrier networks.
