Cape Breton comedy duo Tracy and Martina are bringing their feature mockumentary film “Tracy & Martina: Goin’ Out West” home for a Nova Scotia premiere. “We shot that probably, what, two years ago?” said Tracy in an interview with CTV News. “Since then, we’ve been back out West and we’ve done a whole cross Canada tour, and we’re going out again,” added Martina. “So, a lot of miles on these girls.” “Nice to see Canada, but I prefer being home, eh,” Tracy chimed in. The film has debuted in the Yukon, and Charlottetown, but it hits the big screen in Nova Scotia this weekend. The duo is known for their over-the-top characters, viral videos and podcast. Their mockumentary begins its national theatrical release in Cape Breton premiering at Cineplex in Sydney, N.S., on Friday. The show is sold out Friday along with a Q&A, but there are more opportunities to see it in theatres. The film will also stream on Crave later this year. “We’re excited that it’s finally happened and it’s sold out. And they added a bunch more screenings,” said the duo. “You know what? This show means more to me than any other show in the world, because it’s all of our family and friends coming and people who have been following us since day one.” “Tracy & Martina: Goin’ Out West” follows the two fun-loving best friends from Cape Breton as they head west to Alberta for the first time. Hoping to make money opening for a local band, things go south when their accommodations fall through and they run out of money. In true Tracy and Martina style, it was unscripted. Directed by Sydney Mines’ own Brendan Langelle Lyle (aka MooseCANFly) who is making his feature film debut. It was shot while they toured in Alberta, and the feature recently won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at this year’s Calgary Underground Film Festival.
