Cape Breton University is retiring the number 12 jersey of record-breaking soccer player Ally Rowe, who it describes as the “most accomplished student-athlete” in the school’s history. Rowe, who played in the university’s women’s soccer program from 2019 to 2024, set the AUS/U SPORTS records for most goals in a single season and most career goals. She also surpassed the AUS/U SPORTS record for career goals in men’s soccer. “Off the pitch, Ally was a star in the classroom, earning Academic All-Canadian status during each of her 5 years,” a news release from the university reads. “The jersey retirement will celebrate Rowe’s outstanding contributions to CBU soccer and recognize the legacy she created during her five seasons wearing CAPERS colours.” Rowe’s other achievements include: The jersey retirement ceremony will be held at the Dr. Carl “Bucky” Buchanan CAPERS Hall of Fame at 3 p.m. on Oct. 2.
