The Acadia University Faculty Association (AUFA) and the Acadia Board of Governors ratified their 17th collective agreement Thursday. The new agreement is effective from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028, said the university in a news release. “The teams focused on changes to improve working conditions, streamline processes, enhance equity, and support people through fair wages while ensuring financial sustainability,” said Jeff Hennessy, president and vice-chancellor of Acadia. Negotiators revised 74 per cent of the agreement – a total of 39 articles – and created seven Memorandums of Agreement (MOA). Negotiators met over 21 days, from May 6 to Aug. 8, when negotiations ended. “Ninety-two per cent of AUFA members voting supported ratification of the agreement,” said AUFA President Chelsea Gardner. Both parties agreed to maintain transparency by sharing financial data through the creation and verification of a faculty model, said the release. The AUFA represents approximately 350 faculty members at the university. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
