5 youths, one adult charged with break-in at Halifax elementary school

Five youths and one adult man have been charged with mischief and theft in connection to a break-in at a Halifax-area elementary school over the weekend.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a premises alarm call at Rockingham Elementary School on Tremont Drive around 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, according to a news release. Officers found and arrested six people who had unlawfully entered the building.

Five youths – aged 16 to 17 years old – are scheduled to appear in court an at unspecified date to face charges of:

• break and enter with intent to commit
• mischief over $5,000
• theft under $5,000
• possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

An 18-year-old man will also face those four charges at a later court date.
