A new elementary school in New Brunswick – which comes with a price tag of more than $50 million – is expected to open its doors to students in September 2030. The provincial government said it will complete a land exchange with the Town of Salisbury to build a kindergarten to Grade 5 school. The building will be located near the current elementary school, which has been in service for 78 years, according to a news release. The project has a budget of $52.7 million. Construction is expected to start in the 2027-2028 school year. The design and planning work is underway for the 2026-2027 school year. “The current school has served the community for nearly eight decades,” said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Claire Johnson in the release. “Through this project, students will benefit from a modern, accessible learning environment designed to meet their needs today and into the future.” The new school will be 45 per cent bigger than the older building and will be able to accommodate 450 students.
