The New Brunswick and federal governments are supporting a $1.2-million project to modernize the Bathurst Curling Club. The project aims to replace the club’s ice plant and insulate its five-sheet curling facility. New Brunswick is spending $399,621 on the project while Ottawa is pitching in $500,000. The City of Bathurst is also providing support. “These important upgrades, including a new energy-efficient ice plant and improved building insulation, will help us reduce energy use, operate more sustainably and better withstand changing weather conditions,” said club president Kathy Grebenc in a news release. “Most importantly, this support will help ensure that the curling club remains a welcoming and vibrant place for our members and the Bathurst community for many years to come.” For more New Brunswick news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
