A 41-year-old man is facing several assault and robbery charges in connection to an alleged attack in Esgenoôpetitj First Nation, N.B., last month. The RCMP says they responded to a report of a man held against his will and assaulted with a weapon around 2:04 a.m. on Aug. 29. The man escaped and called police. The 59-year-old victim from Tracadie was taken to hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to an RCMP news release. Around 4:30 a.m. that same day, police found and arrested Chrissy Dedam, 44, in Esgenoôpetitj First Nation. She appeared in Miramichi provincial court and was charged with assault with a weapon. She was later denied bail. Police arrested a 45-year-old man in connection to the incident around 11 a.m. on Sept. 1. Later that same day, they arrested Maxime Bouchard, 41. He was charged with breach of probation. Following a court appearance on Tuesday, Bouchard was also charged with: Bouchard is scheduled to have a bail hearing on Sept. 15.
