Man caught speeding through blocked emergency site is arrested for impaired driving: Saint John police

A 22-year-old man has been arrested after police say he was caught driving while impaired in Saint John, N.B., Sunday afternoon.

The Saint John Police Force had blocked both ends of Westfield Road to deal with a fire and ensure emergency crews could do their work.

“A passenger vehicle, at a high rate of speed, entered the blocked area, nearly struck the parked police vehicle and fire trucks operating at the scene,” reads a news release from the force.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the unnamed driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Police say his driver’s licence was suspended for three months, the vehicle was impounded for 30 days, and he was issued multiple violations under the Motor Vehicle Act of New Brunswick.
