The disappearance of a man who was reported missing from Whites Mountain, N.B., a year ago is now being investigated by the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit. Police say 48-year-old David Alexander Mitchell was last seen at a home on Whites Mountain Road on Sept. 9, 2024. He was reported missing to police on Sept. 25, 2024. The RCMP says police have followed up on several leads, tips and information about Mitchell’s disappearance, but they still haven’t found the missing man. “Police are still actively working to determine what led to the disappearance of David Mitchell and are trying to bring answers to his family and his community,” said police in a news release Thursday. The Major Crime Unit took over the case this month. The RCMP previously told CTV News that Mitchell’s disappearance is considered suspicious. “This is a case that involves several unanswered questions in relation to the events leading to and following the disappearance of David Mitchell on September 9, 2024,” said Cpl. Matthew Leblanc-Smith of the New Brunswick RCMP. “The Southeast District RCMP has worked diligently on this file over the last year, and our Major Crime Unit will continue this work to ensure all avenues are explored to solve this case.” Mitchell is roughly six-foot-two and weighs about 180 pounds. He has hazel eyes, grey hair and a grey goatee. A clothing description is not available.
