A 60-year-old man is facing drug trafficking and firearms charges after Fredericton police say officers seized a double-barrelled shotgun and fentanyl from two properties last week.

Police executed search warrants at properties on Millbank Road in Nasonworth and Route 102 in Island View on Oct. 1, according to a Fredericton Police Force news release.

“The operation followed a lengthy investigation into suspected criminal activity in the greater Fredericton area,” the release reads. “There was no risk to public safety at any time during the operation.”

Along with the shotgun and fentanyl, police say the following items were seized:

• hydromorphone
• military-issued equipment
• drug trafficking paraphernalia
• roughly $32,000 in Canadian currency
• a bicycle, jewelry and electronics that are believed to have been stolen

Kelly Lee Moses, from Fredericton, was arrested and charged with:

• possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
• unsafe storage of a firearm
• possession of a firearm without a licence
• failure to comply with a release order
• multiple counts of possession of property obtained by crime

Police also arrested another unnamed person on an outstanding warrant from Miramichi.

Moses was remanded until his next scheduled court appearance on Thursday.
