The New Brunswick RCMP is investigating the discovery of a dead body in a residence following a suspicious fire in Deerville. Fire and police services responded to the fire on Route 560 around 5:03 a.m. on Thursday. Police discovered the body in the residence after the fire was extinguished, according to an RCMP news release. “The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has since assumed carriage of the investigation and is treating both the individual’s death and the fire as suspicious,” the release reads. “A member of the New Brunswick Office of the Fire Marshal and New Brunswick coroner’s office are assisting with the ongoing investigation.” Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact police at 1-888-506-7267 or at jdiv.mcu@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
