CHARLOTTETOWN — Three people will be awarded Prince Edward Island’s Medal of Merit next week at the lieutenant-governor’s residence in Charlottetown. The recipients include Dr. Scott Cameron, who is credited with developing professional emergency medical services across the province. As well, Eileen Chiasson-Pendergast will receive the medal for her role in fostering the Acadian and francophone culture and language. The third recipient will be Dave Stewart, who is being recognized for his contributions to creative culture and his advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community. This year’s recipients were selected from a total of 40 nominations. First awarded in 1996, the Medal of Merit recognizes Islanders who have shown individual excellence or outstanding leadership in their community or profession.
