The Nova Scotia RCMP said a 21-year-old Halifax man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Westphal last month. Officers reported to a shooting in a parking lot in the 700 block of Highway 7 around 5:45 p.m., on Jan. 29. “Officers learned that a man was sitting in a parked Buick Envista when a BMW X3 pulled into the parking lot. The driver exited the BMW and fired shots into the Buick before fleeing. The BMW was later located abandoned in North Preston,” read a news release from the RCMP. The victim, a 19-year-old man from Dartmouth, was not injured. Police said they arrested a man in the 5800 block of Macara Street on Thursday and executed a search warrant at a residence. Martino Maurice Williams has been charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm with intent. He appeared in Dartmouth provincial court on Friday and remains in custody pending future court appearances. Police say the firearm involved in the shooting hasn’t been located.
