VANCOUVER - Vancouver police have arrested two brothers in connection with a violent attack on a gay couple.

Const. Jana McGuinness says 30-year-old Parminder Singh Peter Bassi and 27-year-old Ravinder Robbie Bassi were arrested at their Richmond, B.C., home Wednesday morning without incident.

Both men have been charged with assault causing bodily harm in the June 12 attack on David Holtzman and Peter Regier.

McGuinness says police investigated the incident outside Holtzman and Regier's home as a hate crime, but a final determination will be made by the Crown.

McGuinness says police have also arrested two men in connection with an assault early Thursday morning that's also being investigated as a hate crime.

A 30-year-old man is recovering from facial injuries after he was assaulted by two males who allegedly made comments about the victim's sexual orientation.
