ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Up to 10 centimetres of snow is in the forecast today for parts of eastern Newfoundland.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement saying the snow is expected to spread from the Avalon Peninsula to the Bonavista Peninsula.

A low pressure system is tracking northeastward across the Grand Banks.

Highway webcams are showing wet snow accumulating in an area stretching from Holyrood to Paddy's Pond.

Residents are being asked to monitor the latest forecasts as more warnings could be issued.
