Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is headed to a resort in southern Idaho to pitch Canada to a select set of tech and business CEOs.

Trudeau has been invited to attend the 33rd annual conference at Sun Valley, Idaho organized by the New York investment firm Allen & Company.

The guestlist to the conference is never officially released, but rumoured guests this year include Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sheryl Sandberg.

Dubbed as "summer camp for billionaires," attendees often bring their families and participate in outdoor activities such as mountain biking and white water rafting, BNN's Jon Erlichman said.

But the conference is also a place where major business deals are done.

In past years, the Sun Valley conference laid the foundations for several mega deals, including Verizon's $4.4 billion deal to buy AOL, and Walt Disney's deal to buy the ABC television network and ESPN for $19 billion.

A spokesperson from the prime minister's office told CTVNews.ca that Trudeau is attending the conference with "the goal of attracting investment to Canada."

This isn't the first time the prime minister has attended such events with the goal of boosting Canada's profile. Earlier this year, Trudeau attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
