Police have ruled out the car thought to be used by suspects in a fatal home invasion in southern Ontario.

Investigators previously released grainy footage of a car circling the block before a Markham, Ont., home was robbed on Monday. A woman was shot and killed and her husband was injured during the invasion.

On Wednesday, police described the suspicious vehicle as a silver 2007 Acura CSX.

The owner of the car came forward later Wednesday after seeing the reports and was ruled out as a suspect.

Det. Sgt. Larry Wilson said Wednesday that investigators are currently reviewing home-invasion-style robberies to look for any connections.

Police say the public is co-operating, with some good tips coming in.

Bieh Ha Pan, 53, was shot and killed inside when three men broke into her home at 238 Helen Ave., near Kennedy Road and Highway 407, at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Husband Huei Hann Pan, 57, who was also shot, was rushed to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police went to visit him at Sunnybrook hospital on Wednesday, but the victim didn't regain consciousness until late afternoon.

Police said both were shot multiple times during the incident, which lasted about 30 minutes, as suspects searched the home for cash and valuables.

York Regional Police Chief Armand La Barge told a news conference on Tuesday that the brutal home invasion was random and that the suspects "pose a significant danger" to the community.

"It's fortunate we're not dealing with two homicides here," he told reporters.

The couple's 24-year-old daughter, who was tied up, was found uninjured inside the home. She placed the 911 call after freeing herself.

Police say the suspects entered through the front door.

Police have moved a mobile community police station into the neighbourhood. It will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents can speak with officers about any safety concerns they might have. In return, officers hope to speak with potential witnesses, York police said Wednesday in a news release.

Residents have been reminded to keep doors and windows locked at all times. Police recommend residents know who is at the door before opening it, adding that it is their right to refuse to answer the door if they are not comfortable.

York police have released descriptions of three suspects, asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

The first suspect is described as a male, black, between 28 and 33 years old. He is medium height and has a medium build, and was last seen with long dreadlocks and wearing dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as a 31-year-old black male of medium height, with a thin build. He was last seen with a bandana covering his face and wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt.

The third suspect is described as a thin male who spoke with a Caribbean accent.
