Actress Alyssa Milano is resorting to scandalous ways to draw attention to the crisis in Syria: by "leaking" a purported sex tape on the Internet.

Milano, 40, has been vocal on Twitter about the ongoing violence in Syria, encouraging her followers to donate to UNICEF efforts to help Syrian children and stating that she "wants her son to live in a world without war." The actress has served as a UNICEF ambassador since 2003.

But her latest effort may draw even more attention to the situation in Syria than her earnest pleas.

The tape, which was "leaked" Tuesday to the website "Funny or Die," shows Milano and an unnamed bed partner, both partially undressed, apparently preparing to record a romp in a bed strewn with rose petals.

Then, just as the "action" begins, Milano kicks the camera around to face a TV displaying what looks like a news report about Syria.

As the male anchor begins explaining the history of Syria's sectarian divisions, the Assad family and alleged chemical attacks by the Syrian government, Milano and her partner can be seen, reflected in a mirror in one corner of the frame, frolicking under the covers.

At the end of the video, Milano can be heard saying "This is boring, change the channel. Put on the Swamp People."

The actress tweeted about the video shortly after it was posted online.

"Oh no! I'm not sure how it got out," she tweeted Wednesday. Then "My sex tape was leaked. Not sure what to say. Going to post the link myself to try to control the situation."

Milano, who stars in the show “Mistresses,” has over 2.5 million followers on Twitter.

As of Friday morning, the video had been viewed 3.3 million times.
