LONDON -- London-based Canadian label Erdem has scored a hat trick at the British Fashion Awards.
Montreal-born designer Erdem Moralioglu earned his third consecutive win at the annual awards ceremony organized by the British Fashion Council.
Moralioglu nabbed womenswear designer of the year honours at the prestigious event held at the London Coliseum on Monday.
The award recognizes a leading British ready-to-wear designer who has helped to enhance women's fashion in the past year.
Moralioglu won the Red Carpet Award at the ceremony last year, which recognizes a British designer who is creating global awareness of their designs in the media.
In 2012, he took home the New Establishment Award, an honour that recognized a particular movement in British fashion that is taking the industry by storm.
The Canadian-born designer moved to London to attend the Royal College of Art.
He moved to New York after graduation to work in the design studios of fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg before relocating to the U.K. to launch his eponymous label in 2005, known for its modern feminine designs and vibrant, custom-designed prints.
Moralioglu has established a star-studded fashion following with the Duchess of Cambridge and Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow among those who have worn his designs.
The award-winning designer is also in the running for a homegrown style honour.
He is among the nominees for the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards. He will vie for international Canadian designer of the year honours at the CAFAs alongside fellow Londoner Thomas Tait, who won the lucrative LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize earlier this year. Fellow nominees in the category include Mikael D. and Steven Tai.
The second annual CAFA gala is slated to take place on Jan. 31 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
