Edmonton police are asking the public for help to find a man who allegedly impersonated a peace officer, forcibly confined and sexually assaulted a woman on the weekend.

Police say a woman was driving home early Sunday in the area of Anthony Henday Drive and 127 Street when she was directed to pull over by a vehicle with flashing lights.

It's alleged the man, who was dressed in what appeared to be a police uniform, got out of the vehicle, approached her and requested that she get into his vehicle.

The man then told her he wouldn't proceed with criminal charges if she performed sexual acts on him.

The woman says she was driven to another area, sexually assaulted and driven to her residence.

The man is described as white, about 25 to 30 years old, thin build and short brown hair and the vehicle is believed to be a four-door, white Nissan Rogue, between the years of 2007 and 2013.
