The winning ticket for $50-million jackpot in Friday night's Lotto Max draw has been validated in a town near Barrie, Ont.

A spokesperson for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation told CTV News someone found out the good news at a ticket checker in Wasaga Beach on Saturday morning.

The owner of a convenience store in the town said the ticket was purchased at his store by a man in his 40s on Friday night.

Armenak Kesheshian, the store's owner, told CTV Barrie that the man is a regular and frequently stops by to purchase lottery tickets.

"He was actually very, very excited," said Armenak Kesheshian.

"He was breathing really, really heavily."

Kesheshian said that other customers watched as they waited for OLG to contact the store.

"They didn't mind waiting – everyone was excited from him," he said.

The owner of the winning ticket now has to travel to the OLG headquarters in Toronto to have his claim verified.
