To mark Canadian Thanksgiving, Defence Minister Peter Mackay was treated to a bit of pumpkin diplomacy while attending a conference in Uruguay on Sunday.
MacKay’s U.S. counterparts surprised the Canadian delegation with pumpkin pie at the 10th Conference of Defence Ministers of the Americas, a biannual event devoted to defence and security issues.
Though American Thanksgiving is more than a month away, U.S. officials including Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta shared the pie with the Canadians for a quick holiday treat.
American Thanksgiving is on Nov. 22.
