Two Paris-bound Air France flights that were diverted after the airline received anonymous threats have been cleared by authorities.

The two planes diverted late Tuesday, with one plane landing in Halifax and the other landing in Utah.

Air France Flight 55, travelling from Washington, D.C., landed safely at Halifax Stanfield Airport just after 10 p.m. local time. It was carrying 262 passengers.

Meanwhile, Air France Flight 65, travelling from Los Angeles, was diverted to an airport in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Air France said it diverted both flights because of "anonymous threats."

According to an FBI statement released Tuesday night, American authorities investigated but found no credible threat.

After Flight 55 landed safely at Stanfield, RCMP conducted a “full sweep” of the aircraft, CTV’s Todd Battis reported.

However, RCMP found no evidence of an explosive device. Passengers were also interviewed by RCMP before being put up in hotels overnight.

The passengers are expected to depart Halifax for Paris on Wednesday evening.

The bomb scare comes less than a week after multiple terrorist attacks in Paris killed 129 people and increased security concerns across the globe.

One woman on the flight told Battis that she had been in Paris last week, and was just metres away from where one of the terrorist attacks took place.
