HUMBOLDT, Sask. - A taxi driver is dead after his car sank in a central Saskatchewan slough.

RCMP say the cab was heading from Saskatoon to Humboldt early Tuesday morning when it left the road and drove into the water.

Mounties say the driver and two passengers got out of the cab and starting swimming to shore.

The two passengers made it, but the driver did not.

RCMP and Humboldt Fire Department volunteers searched by boat and found the body of the 42-year-old driver.

Police say road conditions at the time were icy, but it's not known if that was a factor in the accident, which is under investigation.
