Saturday's Lotto 6/49 jackpot is the biggest prize ever offered in Canada.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG) says the jackpot is estimated to reach $64 million, edging past the previous record prize of $63.4 million won in 2013.
A $7 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot was last won on Sept. 5. Since then the jackpot has rolled over 11 times.
According to the OLG:
- A Lotto 6/49 jackpot greater than $30 million has been won 35 times
- Lotto 6/49 players take their lucky sevens seriously. The top number sequence in the lottery is 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42
- The most frequently drawn Lotto 6/49 numbers are 31, 45 and 40
A headline-grabbing $60-million Lotto Max ticket was sold in Ontario last month.
A group of 12 colleagues from Markham, Ont. shared the prize, each taking in $5 million.
Tickets for the draw can be purchased until 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
