Parts of Atlantic Canada to see messy mix of snow, wind, rain

HALIFAX -- Environment Canada says areas of Atlantic Canada will see a messy mix of weather along with frosty temperatures.

It has issued weather statements for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Southwestern Newfoundland is expected to see strong winds of up to 100 kilometres an hour, while the eastern end of the province could get snow squalls.

In Nova Scotia, a low pressure system is expected to bring light snow, followed by significant rainfall Tuesday night.

Forecasters say New Brunswick could get 10 centimetres of snow, freezing rain and then showers.

The region is also gripped by temperatures dipping to -27 in western Newfoundland, with the thermostat rising only slightly in New Brunswick.
